During the 10-plus years that St George’s Turning Point Home was in existence, we had the opportunity to help some remarkable young men make something of their lives. For example:

  • Bongani is now a fully qualified aviation firefighter at Grand Central Airport.
  • Buti is a driver and general handyman at the Old JSE Buildings in Newtown.
  • Vincent is studying Retail Business Management at the Vaal University of Technology.
  • Milva obtained his N6 in Business Studies at the Central Johannesburg College and is completing his internship for a National Diploma in Business Studies.
  • Fezile is studying computing and e-commerce through the City of Johannesburg’s MOOV programme, and has been appointed to an internship at Parkview Library.
  • Aristo has just managed to get a work permit (he is a citizen of the DRC) and is building a career as a camera man in the film world.
  • Mandla is a parish minister and the parish secretary at St Aidan’s in Yeoville and is hoping to study theology in Grahamstown next year.
  • William is a qualified “Grade B” security guard and is working for Stallion Security.
